Pace myself, I don’t want to fall too far… this song is so fun to perform live. It’s one of the youngest songs on the upcoming album, and in many ways it’s a taster of my current songwriting. A little weird and playful but still rooted in the same questions about our human experience. Credit where credit is due, I wrote this song after seeing Andrew Bird, one of my favourite artists, live in Italy last year. I’ve always found his way to use language as an instrument phonetically and not just poetically really inspiring. To play with unusual words but still have deep meaning behind them when you allow yourself to look. I didn’t write this song thinking about Andrew Bird songs, but playing it now and looking back the inspiration seems quite obvious. 

But what is the song about? It’s about existing in a world that constantly throws questions and truths around and expects you to keep up with them. It’s about accepting that we don’t have all the answers, we are human and we are allowed to be confused (our skulls only harden 3 months into our lives and in general we are always growing and learning). But it’s also about knowing that our limitations don’t take away our agency and our anger at injustice is valid (how dare you assume that I, live to consume your lies). It’s not a song about answers, it’s more about accepting the confusing process of being human.

Recorded with Dominic Romano, I love how the song turned out. Some of his string ideas also made it onto Benedikt Fuchs beautiful live arrangement available on CD, Vinyl and Bandcamp when you buy the album or single.
